The Naples, FL CMTA Branch is for those who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and their loved ones. We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!
Roy is a 75-year-old active senior who leads the Naples, FL CMTA Branch. In addition, he has started another CMTA branch in Hartford, CT. Roy was diagnosed with CMT1A at age 55 and currently wears AFOs, but can still play golf, the game he loves. He has been married to his wife Diana for 45 years and has a daughter and a son. Roy has a BS in Aero Engineering from U of Maryland and an MS from RPI. He worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in CT for 45 years designing compressors for jet engines. He spends winters in Naples and summers in Manchester, CT. His hobbies are model railroading and spending time with his 4 grandchildren.
Bill has CMT Type 1A and has been active in CMTA for several years. He currently serves as Co-Leader with Roy Behlke of the Naples, FL Branch. He and his wife Barbara split their time between Sanibel, Florida and McLean, Virginia. Bill retired in 2011 after a 40 year career in public transportation that included 19 years at Port Authority Transit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and 15 years as the head of the American Public Transportation Association in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Northwestern University, Bill earned a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa in urban and regional planning. He enjoys traveling, boating and wonderful ice cream!
