The Central Michigan CMTA Branch is for those who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and their loved ones. We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!
Megan grew up in the great state of Michigan in Lansing. After spending several years in Colorado, Megan recently moved back to the Lansing area with her husband Jonah and daughter Amelia, both of whom have CMT 1X. Megan is a registered nurse at Sparrow Hospital in the Oncology Department. Megan married into the CMT community and is excited to play a role in bringing our community together in the mitten! In her position as branch co-leader, Megan is looking forward to connecting with the local CMT community and learning more about CMT. Megan enjoys travel, knitting, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Jonah and several members of his family have CMT 1X. He has dedicated his career to working with kids and adults with disabilities. Jonah served on the CMTA Advisory Board for over 7 years and led the conference youth outings during that time. In addition to his advisory role, Jonah consulted for the CMTA building out the following key youth initiatives: launching and directing Camp Footprint, and assisting to create and develop the first CMTA Youth Council. Jonah joined the CMTA staff full-time in early 2020 as the National Youth Programs Manager and is thrilled to be serving the CMTA community by working to celebrate and engage the youth. He is married to Megan and they have a beautiful little girl named Amelia Rose who also has CMT. In his spare time, he loves writing, music, travel, pizza, his dog Banjo, and getting the most out of this wonderful life!
