Dr. Shy is the Director of the Charcot Marie Tooth (CMT) Clinic and Co-Director of the Neuromuscular Program at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Shy also is the Chair of the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association's Medical Advisory Board, on the Board of Directors of the Peripheral Nerve Society (PNS), and a member of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Dr. Shy has published extensively on inherited disorders of the peripheral nervous system and is listed in the publications Best Doctors in America and Top Docs. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Peripheral Nervous System. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association. Dr. Shy received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and did his neurology training and fellowship training in neuromuscular diseases at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
