The Hawaii CMTA Branch is for those who have Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and their loved ones. We welcome you to join this vibrant group of active and caring individuals in your area to share resources, ideas, CMT-related information, and personal experiences and to, ultimately, build life-long friendships and support. Meetings will focus on CMT education, awareness, research updates, fundraising initiatives, advocacy, and current events and will include guest speakers. We love newcomers and hope you will join us at our next meeting!

Meet the Branch Leaders

James Cuizon

James Cuizon is the president and CEO of Network Enterprises, Inc., a 30-year-old nonprofit that serves the disabled community in Hawaii with job training and career placement. He was diagnosed with CMT1X at the age of 21. James is an accomplished long distance endurance athlete who has not only competed in many events—including the Ironman World Championships and the Boston Marathon—but is the 2015 Xterra Trail Run Physically Challenged Division World Champion.

Bobbie Gomez

Bobbie is the mother of her branch co-leader, CMTAthlete James Cuizon. She recently retired from her work as an escrow officer and senior underwriting assistant and moved back to Hawaii after living in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 30 years. Her hobbies are gardening, crafts and playing the ukulele. She also volunteers on the bulletin team at her church. Several of Bobbie’s family members have CMT so she is eager to learn more about it and to get active in the CMTA community.
