Dan discovered he had CMT at the age of 28 after dislocating his knee for the first of what would be many times to come. Coincidentally, his mother was diagnosed with CMT1A around the same time, providing an obvious cause to his suddenly extreme clumsiness and weakening peripheral muscles. Now 43, he has mostly come to grips with his condition, but says he still tries to do more than he should from time to time, occasionally resulting in another knee dislocation. Originally from Philadelphia, Dan currently lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife Michele and their 4-year-old border terrier, Indiana. A web developer and content editor for Verizon, he is also an avid movie buff, seamhead (baseball enthusiast) and occasional writer.
