12/18/2009: U.S. Congress Allocates $1 Million for National CMT Resource Center The CMTA is proud to announce that the U.S.
Congress has allocated $1,000,000 to launch a National CMT Resource Center in conjunction with The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD).
The funding, contained within the 2010 Federal Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill (LHHS), will support a national initiative to promote a
collaborative relationship between CMT patients and their providers and to ensure people are being properly diagnosed and treated with the latest standards of care.
The CMTA would like to acknowledge and thank Senator Arlen Specter (D-PA), a member of the U.S. Senate LHHS Appropriations Sub-Committee, whose leadership and support was instrumental in securing the funding for the National CMT Resource Center. In addition, the CMTA would like to thank Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH) for his support of the project as well.
The CMTA looks forward to establishing and promoting the relationship with the CDC's NCBDDD to strategically develop the National CMT Resource Center and deliver this program to the national CMT community.
